Story

A pure country song with a little Jim Buffet feel. Paradise can be found in many places in the world. On a beautiful sunset beach in Mexico, the boundary waters on the U.S.-Canadian border, The seven wonders of the world. But Paradise can also be found right at home lying next to you girl.

Lyrics

Paradise

(Verse 1)

Paradise is a place we have all seen Warm winds, sunshine and palm trees.

But tonight, I’d have to say I’ve seen paradise in a whole different way.

(Chorus)

I’ve seen paradise in a sunset in Mexico  I’ve seen paradise in the boundary waters below

I’ve seen the seven wonders of this world But there one thing that’s for sure Paradise is when I’m lying next to you girl.

(Verse 2)

Is paradise just a moment in time? A day or a month, watching the world go bye Now looking back,

Looking back on it  all I’d say paradise is back then, right here, right now.

I’ve seen paradise in a sunset in Mexico I’ve seen paradise in the boundary waters below

I’ve seen the seven wonders of this world But there one thing that’s for sure Paradise is when I’m lying next to you girl.

Story

Now if there ever was a song about the working man this one would be at the top, one of my all time favorite working songs from a few years back.

Lyrics

Sixteen tons (Written by: Merle Travis)

Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong

(Chorus)

You load sixteen tons, what do you get
Another day older and deeper in debt
Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said "Well, a-bless my soul"

(Chorus)

Solo

I was born one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain
Fightin' and trouble are my middle name
I was raised in the canebrake by an ol' mama lion
Cain't no-a high-toned woman make me walk the line

Chorus

If you see me comin', better step aside
A lotta men didn't, a lotta men died
One fist of iron, the other of steel
If the right one don't a-get you Then the left one will

Chorus

Lyrics

This Old Heart Of Mine

If I was a Captain of a big old boat.

Or maybe a movie star that everybody knows.

Would you see me differently, would you then give me the time.

For this old heart of Mine

Verse two

If I was the moon, I would shine down on you.

And dance across the water, and wrap my love around you.

I maybe a dreamer, but one thing is so true.

This old heart belongs to you.

Chorus

Is this old heart of mine, playing tricks on me.

Is this old heart of mine, so blind it cannot see.

If I had any sense at all, I'd run away from you.

But this old heart of mine, loves no one but you.

Verse three

If I was a poet, I have all the right words to say.

Could I sweep you off your feet, and maybe take you away.

Or am I just a fool, on a road that leads nowhere.

This old heart loves you I swear

Working Class Man

Written By: Larry Vannatta

Verse one Back in the day when a man was a man

He worked all day with his own two hands

With the sweat on his brow and dust on his face

Working class honest man

Verse two Didn’t have much what he had he earn

A loving family and a trusting word

Drove a John deer tractor, and a old half ton

Working class honest man

(Chorus) He’s a poor dirt farmer, he’s a factory man

A train engineer who rides across this land

With the sweat on their brow and dust on their face

Just a working class honest man

Solo

Verse three

Trying to make a dollar each and every day

Men and women just blue collar folks

Working class honest man

(Bridge) That working class, they fought together

And they built this nation strong

Lest we forget the ones who died

For the freedom of us all.

Verse four

Threat them like a brother all the time

With the sweat on their brow and dust on their face

Just the working class honest man

(Solo)

(Chorus) He’s a poor dirt farmer, he’s a factory man

A train engineer who rides across this land

With sweat on their brow and dust on their face

Just a working class honest man

With sweat on their brow and dust on their face

Just a working class honest man

So want you tip your hat to the working kind
here’s a lot of folks working on a wage

Brick by Brick
© 2010 Lyric’s by Janice Hopkins and Greg C. Brown and music by Larry Vannatta

Grandpa Foley turned 90 last May, the family all came out to celebrate.

Most of his years had all been kind; his feet were moving slowly, but not his mind.

He started working at an early age, forty-one years in the building trade.

Concrete, mortar, hard work and sweat; he couldn’t look back on a single regret

He told me, you know you’re nearly grown, you’ll soon be leaving your momma and home

CHORUS

So…Build your place in this world, call it your own, Brick by brick, and stone by stone

Use two steady hands ‘til the pieces fit, Add a little love just to make it all stick.

And build a life worth living Brick by brick.

Verse 3:
I listened closely but I was so young, didn’t know then what I could become.
At 18 years, he gave me a clue, Said life’s made up of what you’re willin’ to do.

His good advice spun around in my head, I never forgot the words that he said.

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE

When I got word that Grandpa’d passed away, I knew he’d earned his bonus at last.

Things aren’t created in the blink of an eye, It’s the slow, forward steps that make a life.

Just like he told me that time…..

Lyrics

Hooked on You

(Words and Music written

by: Larry Vannatta (C) Socan 2011)

All the stuff you said, about love. Is it true or just something that you said?

All these feelings I can’t describe, loves got me all twisted inside

Well it must be, that I’m hooked on you

You said you love me forever, is that’s true. Cause I feel the same way about you too

Love is funny an hard to explain, you say you love me and I feel the same

Well it must be, that where hooked on you

I’m little scared, cause I love you so much

You drive me crazy with your loving touch

Every little thing that you do

Reminds me how much I’m hooked on you

When I look into your eyes I get lost, in your love.

And the smile on your face tells me, that I’m the one

I’ll love you until forever ends, yet I can’t explain what tomorrow will bring

Well it must be, that I’m hooked on you

I’m little scared, cause I need you so much

You drive me crazy with your loving touch

Every little thing that you do

Reminds me how much I’m hooked on you

Lyrics

Johnny, play it again

Johnny was a picker in a five piece band

He played for folks across the land

Never made it big but everybody knows him so

He just love to dance and play and sing

And entertain is what he did

The music and the love of God was in his soul

People would came from miles around

To hear that boy play till the sun go down

Just a picker with an ordinary name

Till they said Johnny, play it again

Solo

Now I learned a lot from that man

Playing in that five piece band

You can hear it now in the songs that I play

Now just before he pass away

He asked me if I would play

With the music and the love of God in my soul

Cause people will come from miles around

To hear you boys play till the sun go down

Just a picker with an ordinary name

Till they said Johnny, play it again

Sole

People would came from miles around

To hear that boy play till the sun go down

Just a picker with an ordinary name

Till they said Johnny, play it again

Till they said Johnny, play it again

Story

I had enough, phone call after phone call. I turned the cell phone off and yes went fishing, now thats how you relax.

Lyrics

Gone Fishen (words and music written by Larry Vannatta) Socan

Sometimes I find a little peace of mind, just getting away, to the old fishen' hole

Gives me the time to think, about nothing

With the sun beating down and the fish just a jumping

Not a worry in the world, when nature at its best, got a fish on, ya who cares about life’s stress

Cell phone don't work, because turned it off

So at the tone leave your name, cause I'm gone fishing

 (Chorus)

Take me away to that place so divine,

Where the fish are always a biting

That peace of mind I can find every time

So at the tone leave your name, cause I'm gone fishing

Solo on verse then Bridge

Life without fishen is too busy, so head on down and drop a line into your favorite fishen hole

 Chorus tag last line2 times

So at the tone leave your name, cause I'm gone fishing
